Trena + Salim's Love Story

Trena and Salim Holder tied the knot in October of this year and we are so excited to share their love story with you!

We asked Trena how she met her love and she remembers back to day one when her love story began...

"We met at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Arlington, TX called Gloria's.  Salim came to Texas one weekend to look for an apartment before moving from Appleton, WI to Dallas, TX for work.  We met up with a close group of mutual friends and that's when I met Salim for the first time.  We instantly hit it off at dinner amoung friends and before leaving for the night, Salim asked if I could be his official tour guide to help acclimate him to the city once he returned back to Dallas.  I agreed and the rest is history!"

For all brides, the big question is where and when will you tie the knot!? It's so important to find the right venue that you both love so you can set a date and we love the way they found theirs...
"We got married at the Texas and Pacific Station in downtown Fort Worth, TX on October 7th, 2012.  We chose this venue becuase we felt it was symbolic of us and how we met for it was "Our Journey" in life that caused our paths to cross so we thought it would only be fitting to start our union at an old train station.  Both our ceremony and reception took place in the main concourse waiting room.  It was so romantic and so much fun!"

Then the planning begins and at times it can be a bit overwhelming... however, Trena and Salim found the best part of planning was getting to fly to Texas every month and seeing all her family and friends.  (She had to move to New York at the end of June so she made monthly trips to Texas to plan with her coordinator.)
"My best advice to brides is to start planning as early as possible.  You don't want to have a lot left on your plate the closer you get to your wedding day.  You want to be as stress-free as possible.  If things come up along the way, don't freak out.  Just remember what your ultimate goal is- to marry the love of your life and just roll with whatever happens. Enjoy every moment of your day with your love.  Soak it in and enjoy!"  (Amen! We couldn't have said it better.  We see brides at times who lose focus and let the smallest set back ruin their joy and it's so sad because their joy is not in the set backs... it's in the marriage.)

We are so thrilled to have built a friendship with Trena and had a blast getting to know her as we prepared her dress for the days leading up to the big day!
"My experience with Classy Concepts was awesome.  I could not have asked for a better experience.  Not having to worry that my dress would get totally destroyed was a big relief during alterations.  My dress was very Detailed and required a lot of altering because I purchase my dress too big.  I knew from day one when I went in for my initial consultation that I was in the right place.  Classy Concepts made me feel right at home and like I was part of the family for day one!"

As you can see, Trena looked like a DREAM in her gorgeous bridal gown.  We love seeing her making memories with Salim on the dance floor with these precious photos!  They chose to have their first dance to the song: Make me Whole by Amel Larrieux.

For honeymooning, they ventured to the beautiful island of Barbados and spent a week at The Crane Resort in Saint Philip.  It was an amazing trip to tour the entire island, horseback riding on the beach and country side, and enjoying lots of great dining together!

Now that the big day has passed, what could this gorgeous couple be doing these days?  They currently live in Elmsford, New York so we are sad to not be able to see her in town, but Trena was so sweet to come by the shop to see our new location during her last visit for Kim's wedding and we were so thrilled she took time to stay in touch.  Means the world!
"Life as newlyweds is so awesome.  Waking up next to your best friend every morning is the best feeling in the world!! We both are still getting acclimated to New York living but we are enjoying every minute of it together.  We have added a new member to our family, Tex, our 5 month old miniature Schnauzer.  Tex keeps us on our toes but he has been a great addition to our family.  We take family walks every evening after dinner together and on many evenings we all snuggle up together on the couch and watch television.

Trena, we had SO much fun getting to hear your love story and getting to know you and are so honored to celebrate you in a special way!  You have been such a blessing and we hope God continues to give this marriage all the blessings every day.  When we come to New York next time, we will have to come meet Tex and have coffee with you and Salim. :)  Come by to see us anytime as well and we look forward to staying in touch.... xo, your friends at Classy Concepts Bridal

Allegra: Feature Bride | Ava's Bridal Couture

A beautiful Catholic wedding with traditional Mexican flair best describes Allegra and Cesar’s wedding day. They said, “I Do” on May 28, 2016, and will forever cherish the memories made with their family and friends. Allegra had a vision for her wedding day, and it was our job to help her find a gown that would complement every other detail.  THE DRESS  After an unsuccessful bridal appointment at another shop, Allegra found herself at Ava’s. Feeling a bit discouraged, she explained her wants and needs to her consultant. She was looking for an all lace gown, white or off-white in color, a decent train, and some sort of sleeve. Kelly, her consultant, pulled several styles for Allegra, keeping her requests in mind, and throwing in a few other styles to reinforce her original requests. Allegra was pleasantly surprised to have loved a number of these gowns, but still reverted to a gown that almost matched her vision exactly; Allure Bridals’ Style #2800. This gorgeous s

Happy Mother's Day Wifey's!

One of the oh so many things I love about bridal shop happenings... the meaningful relationships. We meet a bride, she buys her wedding dress... the end, right? I sure hope not! Over the past 12 years in business, I have met some of the most amazing men and women who were once customers at some point in time.  They definitely bought more than "just a dress" or "just a service".  We make so many memories together, form a relationship and that relationship is so special!  No two customers are ever alike. You would think after 12 years it would get old.  Would it be the same day after day?  Year after year?  Same old stories, same old song and dance? Thankfully for me, it doesn't! Today's blog, I am thinking of all of our past brides who became a wifey after saying "I Do".  Perhaps the journey as a wife means you want to become a mom. Maybe you have decided you want a family with kiddos...  Maybe you are marrying into a family with children... Maybe y

New Building Under Construction Nearby!

You won't need to drive far from our current location on Debbie Lane to see us at our new building under construction! After 10 years making Debbie Lane our "home" for Say Yes to the Dress moments and memories, we reached a crossroads and made a big decision to merge the two locations while under construction.   How can we keep up with new generations and stay on the cutting edge for our two stores?   Our current lease at 1205 E Debbie Lane ended at the New Year of 2018.  We secured an awesome new property for our bridal business to focus more on customer experience, convenience and online shopping! Many of you have seen Ava's Bridal in Fort Worth grow this past year in our new building on Camp Bowie.  The space on Camp Bowie is nearly 3 times the square footage of our previous space.  This past year in our new building has been a dream come true.  We are so thankful for the response received from past, present and future customers and have grown our onl
