For any of you looking for a beautiful, quiet and secluded place to honeymoon, check out Turks and Caicos. Zach and I read on The Knot that this was the top places for honeymooners because of it's private, safe beaches, great dining/entertainment and beautiful island surroundings.
The most private, uninhabited beaches and scenery in the Caribbean. TCI reminded us a lot of Kaui, Hawaii which is where we spent our honeymoon years ago. The buildings weren't built up and the pace of the island was "Island Time". Don't expect to have the technology on the island that you have back home. They lost internet connection on the entire island one of the days we were there and the entire place was removed from the world wide web. :) It could be our one day experience, but I didn't mind being separated from the real world for a few days or so.
The best fine dining you can find! We ate at several amazing restaurants while in our stay. One of the attractions we read in our welcome magazine was the dining experience on TCI. Our top 3 favorite restaurants were all recommended to us so we will share them with you: Bay Bistro is near the resort we stayed at along the beach front was a smaller restaurant, but we love that about it. The good was amazing, of course, but the chef came out to greet tables when he wasn't busy and I loved that personal touch. Our 2nd favorite dinner spot was Mango Reef which was another restaurant that was on the water and they have tables that over look the ocean and tables that are ocean front. The menu is the same either way so we highly recommend it. It was never crowded... EVER... so this never created any problems while we were there. Our all time favorite place was Coco Bistro this restaurant was off the main tourist area and set among a palm tree garden. The lighting, scenery, food, service... all unmatched. We usually ate so much that we didn't really have dessert, but here we had to keep going even though we were so stuffed!
So much to see and experience:
We did a whole lot of nothing while we were there... you know, things like: reading on the beach, sleeping on the beach, swimming floating in the ocean, watching people walk by, walking on the beach, eating on the beach, etc. It was the best "nothing" I have done in a long time. We did do some diving, snorkeling parasailing, kayaking and boating while we were there... all highly recommended! The parasailing was awesome because we could see just how narrow the islands were and from up there you can get perspective. If any of you have any questions about visiting TCI, let me know and I would be happy to answer any questions!
All my best, Sue
