The White Wedding Dress

The White Wedding Dress

(A friend of mine found this on CNN.com and I wanted to share! It made me laugh and there were lots of other fun things to mention on the same topic that I will continue to share at a later time. Thanks, Suz!)

Technically, today's wedding gowns aren't white. They are "Candlelight," "Warm Ivory," "Ecru" or "Frost." But there was a time when a bride's wedding attire was simply the best thing in her closet (talk about "off the rack"), and could be any color, even black.
To convince her groom that she came from a wealthy family, brides would also pile on layers of fur, silk and velvet, as apparently grooms didn't care if his wife-to-be reeked of sweaty B.O. as long as she was loaded.
It was dear ol' Queen Victoria (whose reign lasted from 1837-1901) who made white fashionable. She wore a pale gown trimmed in orange blossoms for her 1840 wedding to her first cousin, Prince Albert.
Hordes of royal-crazed plebeians immediately began to copy her, which is an astonishing feat considering that "People Magazine" wasn't around to publish the Super Exclusive Wedding Photos, or instruct readers on how to Steal Vicki's Hot Wedding Style.

New Building Under Construction Nearby!

You won't need to drive far from our current location on Debbie Lane to see us at our new building under construction! After 10 years making Debbie Lane our "home" for Say Yes to the Dress moments and memories, we reached a crossroads and made a big decision to merge the two locations while under construction.   How can we keep up with new generations and stay on the cutting edge for our two stores?   Our current lease at 1205 E Debbie Lane ended at the New Year of 2018.  We secured an awesome new property for our bridal business to focus more on customer experience, convenience and online shopping! Many of you have seen Ava's Bridal in Fort Worth grow this past year in our new building on Camp Bowie.  The space on Camp Bowie is nearly 3 times the square footage of our previous space.  This past year in our new building has been a dream come true.  We are so thankful for the response received from past, present and future customers a...

A Beautiful Soul or Two ♡

Words are never enough to capture the essence of a beautiful soul!  We/I first fell in love with Robyn in 2015 when she was planning her daughter Brittany's wedding day. Brittany fell in love with a blush pink fit and flare beaded Maggie Sottero Wedding gown at Ava's Bridal in Fort Worth.    Brittany, a Pediatric Nurse and recent graduate from Texas A&M,   was marrying the love of her life Tillman in May of 2016. Each of our staff fought over who would help Brittany Arrott into her dress.  She was so magnetic and interesting that we never wanted our time with Brittany to end.  Brittany was amazingly beautiful on the outside (she was the portrait of health and wellness & an obvious athlete by her physical appearance) but her beauty from within shined even more brilliant. Brittany was fighting a rare brain cancer with dignity and poise.  I've never seen someone so unwell be so strong.  Robyn (Brittany's Mom) managed a...
