Tis the season for bridal shows 2011!! :)
We just finished the Star Telegram bridal show and now we are moving into the next show on January 29th and 30th in Dallas, TX. (yay!) Our Bridal Boutique will be closed on the 29th, but we will be at the bridal show on Saturday and Sunday so come seeeeeee us!!!

REAL QUINCE: JESSICA!

REAL QUINCE: Zach and I were so honored to be a part of Jessica's 15th birthday celebration! It was the first time that either of us had ever attended a traditional Quinceanera with a presentation and ball after dinner. It was so much fun and I not only learned a lot about this cultural celebration and the symbolism they value, we also had a blast with the Mounce family! They really know how to Baile!

We took a break from the dance floor for a quick pic! They had an awesome Spanish band playing tunes till the wee hours. Zach wore his vintage dinner coats and I wore one of my favorite evening dresses that we carry in our store. Jessica (the Quince) wore a beautiful ballgown and Dalia (her Mom) wore a figure flattering 2 piece mother's dress from our new in-stock mother's styles: all can be found at Classy Concepts! (Except the sport coat- sorry guys. That's a vintage piece Zach's dad wore when he was a young lad and passed it on to Zach.) Mr and Mrs Mounce, I am not sure if any of you have facebook (*Grins*) but If you read this I hope you know what a truly wonderful daughter you have raised! She is such a blessing to her friends and family and I look forward to seeing all that her bright future has planned! Thank you for the invitation to celebrate with your loved ones- it was an honor for us to attend this special occasion. :)

Locks of Love

Today is a big day for me! I have been growing my hair out for the past 2 years in preparation to be able to meet the minimum hair length to donate to a non-profit organization called "Locks of Love". They have a fantastic website filled with pictures, answers to questions and information regarding donors and questions that might come along with becoming one. I have some before and after pictures too - wanted to make it fun! I am able to donate 15 inches!!! How cool...

A few years ago, a good friend of mine grew out her hair to donate and I researched the organization and became a supporter. I see this as something we all do anyway- (grow out our hair) so my hope is to share something new with someone (like my friend did) and inspire you to learn more and do what I did... give. I read their mission statement and vision on the website and feel this is something that all of us can contribute a small part to help a big cause.

A few things that I learned that I want to share:
1. It can take up to 6 (yes, 6!!!) donors to get ONE prosthesis made for a recipient. That is a LOT of need and many of us grow out our hair for various reasons so why not give it away (its like recycling!) to a group who needs it and uses it.

2. The hair is used to make a prosthetic hair piece which is VERY different from a wig. When I read about the difference between a wig vs a prosthesis, I understand why there is so much cost associated with making one. They retail up to $6k EACH. The child can go about living a normal life again. The piece forms a vacuum seal with suction to the head allowing the child to swim, shower, play and live a normal childhood without the fear of having a wig fall off or get pulled off by a classmate.

3. Recipients are underprivileged children (mostly little girls)- they are up to age 21 and many times a recipient will receive more than 1 prosthesis in their lifetime.

4. Recipients suffer from various diseases causing hair loss- not just cancer patients. (I never knew that their were autoimmune disorders like this. I figured they would mainly be cancer patients- which some of them are, but many of them are kiddos who will never have hair grow back after treatment.) So sad.

5. Many salons don't know about Locks for Love- the salon stylist that cut my hair today knew about the organization, but didn't know it was that easy to send your hair. I gave her a sheet that she can post in her salon for when people come in and want to chop off their hair- which people do! She said they usually throw the hair away, but if they knew how to properly handle it and send it somewhere- they would.

I could write a lot more here, but I hope to give you enough to open the door to learning about organizations out there that we can contribute to by doing small acts, but are received in a BIG way. I have personally committed to being a continuous donor (why not! I loved growing out my hair and then knowing I am helping someone by doing so... score!) and hope you will share this with people in your life that may be cutting their hair soon, that have long hair, that like to give, that work at/own a salon, or like to give. :)

In addition to my hair, Classy Concepts Bridal Boutique is giving a financial donation of $1,500.00 in honor of my dear friends Jenel and Larry Looney. They are two of the most GIVING and selfless people I know. I cannot count all the times that they have done unspeakable acts of kindness toward me and my loved ones... they help total strangers... they are just looney! :) Jenel and Larry are constantly volunteering and because of them... I remember to do the same. And, well, Larry is bald and has a great sense of humor! So, what can I say! ;)

Many of my customers (90% of them are brides) are growing out their hair for the wedding- so I hope that many of you read this too and know that by the time you get to your 1st year anniversary... you will have 10-12" to donate and please consider it! You will feel as wonderful as I do! :) (Love my customers- they are such great blessings in my life!)

The Cutest Thing EVER!!! Look who came to see me on her way to soccer practice today!?!? Non other than... Dana Leigh! She came in with her mom early in the year to have a pageant dress designed and created by Classy Concepts. We had the BEST time working together and I am going to post pictures ASAP of her award winning dress- literally! ;) She is just the most adorable girl you have ever met- she took home 8 (EIGHT!!!) trophies at the competition and she said "she made a lot of friends" at the show. I am so proud of her and LOVE this picture of her in her "Cover Girl" Sash and her crown- on her way to soccer practice even! Ha! Love these moments when you get to be a part of a special occasion with the family and friends- yay for Dana Leigh!

Bride to Be: Kathy!

Bride-to-Be: Kathy is one of our favorite rays of sunshine! She is getting married this fall and we are SO excited about her wedding and super fun reception in the stockyards. She found "The dress" and accessories at our Bridal Boutique in Mansfield and we are now working on the invitations.

I had to pick my fav two becuase I loved all of her pictures. Each one made me go: Ahhhh. I think both of these are so sweet and romantic! Love the red shoes!!!!

It's Summer time so we are showcasing Holly's outdoor wedding. Her accessories are perfect! They stand out in her dark hair and Hollywood curls. We got the sweetest note today from Neda who was recently married to her sweetheart, Rob. They had a destination wedding and I just love sharing the pictures of our brides. She looks so beautiful and happy and I love everything about their wedding day down to the seashell detail on their wedding cake. Love the details! Neda has a special place in my heart because we knew each other in Junior High before she moved away and now we were able to reconnect when she found me on face book, got engaged and then came in for an appointment to find her wedding gown. I was thrilled that she found the perfect dress and accessories here becuase I was so honored to help her with the process. It's always a joy to be a part of a person's special day, but when you have a history with them--- its even sweeter!

Janet and I have a special place in our heart for Misti! She is Kim's older sister and Kim has been a close friend of mine for years. I didn't get to see Misti much since she doesn't live in the area as Kim and I, but each time I we got together... we always had a blast together. Misti has so many great ideas that she must have had a tough time narrowing down all the plans to choose what she did. Some brides are so creative and the planning ideas come to them so easily! Must be nice! ;)

I am so happy for this couple and their family. Being around Misti and Kim's family being able to not only help Misti and her mom Judy as the Mother of the Bride, but will also being doing the same in 2 weeks with Kim and Judy again.

Happy Easter Sunday!

Today was a special Easter Sunday! My neice, Alexandra Elise, was baptised today and I am so honored to not only be her aunt but her Godmother and Zach is her Godfather. :) We love both our neices so much and are always thrilled to spend time with them. They grow so fast and crack me up with the things they do!

Madeleine (our older neice) is talking up a storm and doing the best impersonations of a ham child! She is such a hoot and I can't wait for her to have fun times with her baby sister too! What a great weekend of wonderful memories. Hope all of you had a GREAT Easter weekend as well! In asking our customers "What are your plans for the holiday weekend?"... most of you responded with "Food and Family Time". What a great combination!

I can't think of a better way of spending time than with those two things bringing it all together. I remember my Saviour who died for the sins of the world and look forward to remembering and celebrating with those I love. No matter your beliefs, we can all find a reason to let holidays bring us together for reason to stuff our faces amidst a busy and bustling schedule we all seem to keep.

As my husband and I were driving home, we noticed LOTS of businesses closed on Easter Sunday so I hope all of us got to spend the day doing something special to us.

Speaking of food, we all went to one of my favorite spots in Austin after church- Ches Zee. They were having their Easter Brunch and it was packed, but we had our table in the back waiting for us so we could gab more about the reasons that brought us there. Happy Easter!

MTV "Sixteen and Pregnant"

MTV Came to our Mansfield store Thursday this week to film Brooke - a Mansfield High School age student who will be featured on the upcoming season of MTV's "Sixteen and Pregnant".

It was cool to see them film for a reality TV Show and all that it involves. We were glad to be a part of Brooke's prom dress shopping experience and happy to help her find the ULTIMATE prom dress! The crew was awesome and we look forward to seeing her on the next season of MTV's show.

It has been raining in Mansfield almost all week! I thought I would spread some sunshine by posting some fun pictures of Janet and me before attending the Round Rock Women's Division Chamber luncheon last month. Classy Concepts sponsored the lunch for the group and decided to "dress for the occasion" since we had a 10 minute presentation of "what we do" for the group. We thought - what better way to show that we offer dress rentals in Round Rock and Austin ... and NOW we offer Dress rentals in the DFW area specifically located in Mansfield, TX.

Mansfield is South of Arlington and Arlington is South of Fort Worth. So, we are very happy to spread some sunshine cheer with these fun pictures of yours truly and our store manager of the Round Rock/Austin location.

Janet does a great job as store manager! She also manages our Alterations Department in Round Rock too. She gets rave reviews from her customers and they all love that she is excellent with follow up and does what she says she will do. Janet has given excellent advice to her customers and I know that they appreciate her genuine heart and willingness to go the extra mile for those she knows.

Janet was my psuedo "Maid of Honor" for the day, but she is always my right hand every day as store manager! Don't forget that if you know someone getting married and wants to rent a dress rather than purchasing, we offer this service in two areas now. We happily sell new gowns of course as all bridal shops do, but we do have a selection of gowns you can borrow and that is Oh so nice when you need it or don't want to buy a dress that you don't want to keep or wear again.

We got the sweetest note from one of our newleywed couples this week and I wanted to congratulate Bryan and Joyce who were married february 22nd, 2009. There pictures turned out so beautiful and we are so happy for them!

Joyce wore a beautiful modified sweetheart princess gown with draped taffeta skirt and crystal detailing in silver embroidery threads.

Their bridesmaids all rented black gowns in a chiffon overlay and capped sleeve. The maid of honor wore a designer black gown with stylish details. They all looked so polished and classy!

LISA ANN WUENSCHE won the coveted title of Miss Thorndale on June 21, 2009. The pageant was held in Thorndale and benefits scholarship, community involvement and other activities for young women as Lisa. This 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OF KARL AND SHERRY WUENSCHE was thrilled to have won the title though there were 5 other young ladies competing for Miss Thorndale. One of the many awards Lisa took home that evening was "Best Dressed!" which made me smile because she was dressed in a leased gown from Classy Concepts. She went along with the theme of the pageant when she selected this animal print style gown in black and white with cavier beading along the halter neckline and empire waist.

Lisa, we are very proud of you for your hard work and for the success in your future!

Bathroom Remodel

Here is a fun new project we have been working on.
Bridal is a blast but now that prom season is over, it's been fun to unleash the creative side with some home projects again! We worked on this bathroom for several weeks and it is coming together. Last, the baseboards will be put in, the crown molding installed and some touch ups. After that, it's wha la! :)

Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did! I love before and afters! They help you appreciate how the change took place.

This bathroom was stripped to the studs in some places for:
New Plumbing lines and fixtures (house was built in 1984 and needed some help)
New Sheetrock, texture and paint
New vanities, counters and faucets
New Mirrors and decor
Exsisting Bathtub was sand blasted and resurfaced
New Tile floor, shower and pan. (Shower was completely ripped out and rebuilt with concrete)
New fixtures, shower enclosure, hardware, and lighting
New baseboards and trim

Stoney Point Fashion Show!

Classy Concepts was proud to participate in the 2009 Stoney Point High School Fashion Show. Proceeds from the event when to benefit Project Graduation- what a great cause. We highlighted some of the best this season for prom 2009 for the Seniors. The show also featured casual wear from other department stores, talent performances, skits, and other events.

Here is everyone being serious for the group pose (not everyone was in the picture becuase this was an unplanned moment before the show) but the second photo is of everyone being themself- silly! :) I love the fact that the guy in the back middle is holding up a pair of white underwear? I really hope those don't belong to anyone wearing a tux. (Grins)

These Seniors 2009 were a lot of fun to work with and we wish them LOTS of success and promising future through hard work and dedication. Sounds like great things are ahead for them!

Springtime means prom time in Round Rock ISD and the surrounding areas. Girls prepare for this rite of passage by looking for the perfect dress and the accessories to go along with them - and then plan for the perfect evening with their date and friends.

McNeil High School will kick off the high school spring prom season Saturday at the Austin Convention Center. Round Rock High School, Hutto High School and Round Rock Christian Academy will be next to host proms, doing so Saturday, April 25. Round Rock High's prom will be at the Monarch Event Center in Austin while Hutto's prom will be at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin.

RRCA will have its prom, "Moonlight Masquerade," at the Fern Bluff Community Center in Round Rock.

Although the downturn in the national and state economies might have caused those attending prom this year to tighten their budgets more, other students planned to have a simpler prom just because their friends wanted to have a simpler experience as well.

For example, Round Rock junior Clarissa Ulcak purchased a simple, gray floor-length dress and plans to carpool with friends to the prom and eat a medium-priced restaurant instead of more expensive restaurant. "I don't want to spend $500 on a prom dress," Ulcak said. "I wanted to do things on a budget to get the full experience of everything. I'm looking forward to having a good time and hanging out with my friends."

RRHS junior Ray Martinez is also choosing to carpool with friends and his girlfriend, Remy Plas, to Z-Tejas in Avery Ranch for dinner. To further save money, they plan on taking prom pictures at a friend's house instead of purchasing the package of prom pictures offered at the actual event."I'm excited about the whole experience," Martinez said.

Sue Scheele, owner of Classy Concepts Design in Round Rock for two years, helps high school girls purchase and rent prom dresses. Classy Concepts Design rental fees range from $29 to $49 for most of the brand new, fashion forward dresses in the store. She said rental fees are based on the size, season and age of each gown.

Classy Concepts Design also offers shoe, jewelry and headpiece rental for prom attire.Scheele said the trends for high school proms this year include dresses with animal prints, novelty prints such as polka dots and metallic fabrics, and shorter dresses as opposed to more floor-length dresses. She said girls are dressing in more of the rock-a-billy style for prom.

Scheele said girls are even wearing pillbox hats with feathers this year when in previous years girls only wore their hair down or in a more formal up do."The trends resemble the 1980s but it's not officially the 1980s style," Scheele said. "We've seen more glamour this year for the prom. Heavily beaded dresses are big this year too. Bling is the thing this year."To further promote the concept of renting formal dresses, Scheele hires prom representatives from area high schools to give their female peers vouchers to further explain the concept of renting.

These vouchers entitle customers to $10 off a rental or a free clean and steam. These prom representatives receive $5 for each redeemed voucher which can go toward the purchase or rental of a dress, Scheele said."Last year, we saw more girls purchasing their prom dresses at our store, but through the help of the media and blogs more girls have become acclimated to the idea of renting a prom dress," Scheele said. "When you rent a dress it frees up your funds and allows you to have more money to get your hair done, rent a limousine and eat out at a nice restaurant."

Even though they don't technically rent tuxedos at their store location, Classy Concepts Design refers guys needing tuxedos to Al's Formal Wear, Scheele said.Classy Concepts Design is also showcasing prom fashions during Stony Point's Prom Fashion Show Saturday at 7 p.m. in the school's cafeteria.Round Rock Flowers and Gifts in downtown Round Rock has partnered with the RRHS DECA organization to sell prom corsages and boutonnieres at the school and at the store.

The DECA students will receive 20 percent of the profits from the corsages and boutonnieres sale to go toward funding their trip to the international competition in Anaheim, Calif. , said RRHS DECA teacher Taryn Trevino. The boutonnieres range from $10 to $15 while the corsages range from $15 to $25.Stony Point High School's prom is Saturday, May 2 at the Hyatt Regency Austin on Lady Bird Lake.

Anndreya and I met at our bridal shop in Austin, TX and I just met with her sister Alexis who met me in Mansfield, TX today for her bridesmaid dress fitting. They are so adorable as sisters and what is even more exciting for them and their family is that they are both getting married this year!

Anndreya's wedding is in Austin on May 1st and I can't wait for her to share the day of bliss with her new soon-to-be Husband! Alexis is getting married in November of this year so whew... lots of things for their family going on!

Anndreya is an amazing woman inside and out and from meeting her- you can easily tell she is a pure, geniune person. I loved seeing her each time she came in and most of all getting to meet her, her mom and now her sister.

Boys and Girls Club

I wanted to share these adorable photos with you from the Annual Awards Banquet that the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown hosts each year.

These were from this fall/winter and the kiddos look so sharp. They were the "top of their group" and each had a speaking role in the program.

Jenel and I walked over to The Club and got to help them all get ready, tour the facility that the kids come to hang out in, and Jenel took some photos that turned out really well. Classy Concepts donated the formal wear for this event as you can see from the picture.

This is a great cause if you are looking for a new outlet to volunteer or contribute this year.
Kids are always a great investment of your time and money.
You invest in their future as well in more ways than you can imagine.

This last picture has the group again with Daniel who is the director. He is great with the kids and you really have to be a special person to be able to connect in a way that is firm yet loving all at once to take on a responsibility as this.

Beautiful Sleeve Alterations

We get a lot of brides who want to add sleeves, cap sleeves, or a decorative detail to their wedding gown and this bride was so kind to send us pictures after her bridal portraits that we could share with you. Here is her quoted email message:

"I just wanted to pass along a couple of early bridal portraits my photographer passed along so you could see how great those sleeves look! I love them and think they really made "the dress" that I always imagined but couldn't quite find during my months of shopping."

Classy Concepts has new options for sleeve lace and keep them instock for brides to choose from or you can select your own lace/material to bring in and have added to your dress. Strapless gowns are so commonly made and sold and it can be a tough find to get a gown with sleeves that still has the look you want. I notice that some dresses with sleeves look a bit dated and not as elegant as I would hopet them to be. However, depending on the price range you are shopping in, there are some beautiful options out there as well!

I want to take a moment to recognize Janet for the work she does.
Janet is from Orange, Texas and is one of the most fun people you will meet. She has personality that goes on for days! Janet has been with us going on her 2nd year and we have had more laughs with her than anyone we've worked with. Janet is always up for anything so it's hard to say what she likes to do in her free time, but one thing I always see her doing is helping others. I can tell she must really have a lot of loyalty to her friends becuase she is always helping someone and always doing things with her family. Janet has a management and marketing degree from McNeese State University of Lake Charles, Louisianna. Her management skills as the manager of our Round Rock store get tested, but she is able to make it fun for all.

Our customers really love working with Janet- if she doesn't know the answer, she will tell you she doesn't, but she is always learning new things and helping brides have a wonderful experience. Janet has worked her way up in the company and we are very proud of where she is today and the success that lies before her within the company.

Sydni Jenkins is the model that is in the picture wearing the Wedding Gown rental that we had in our recent fashion show at the Hilton Hotel. Sydni is a professional model through Austin Talent and Modeling and has a great future in modeling for her! Mavericks VS Nets

Around noon yesterday, Zach sends me a text message saying "Got tickets to the Mavericks game. Wanna Go?" My response of course was "When should I be ready to leave?" :)

His boss had given him 2 tickets in the HCA suite at the stadium downtown in Dallas and we had a great time! Zach saw a few others that he knew from his company and that was fun too. We got to enjoy the game and the half time show was really unusual. I have never seen anything like this, but there was a lady that performs acrobatics on a platform. The way she was able to hold herself up with one hand on these small platforms were amazing. Maybe some of you have seen this before, but man! I couldn't imagine the core strength this person had. It was impressive to say the least and very entertaining.

The basketball games are always so much fun! They have such a different atmosphere than a football game or any other sport. Even though I cheer for the San Antonio Spurs, it was still cool to be in an arena filled with energy, hype and lots of noise! I love the sounds a stadium like this bring. It makes you want to get up and dance!

We are new to this area so it has been so much fun getting to know new people in the Fort Worth area and trying new things together! I am so glad that we get to enjoy this ride of our life together and see what else is out there.

Mansfield Chamber of Commerce

Today, I went to the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce Women's Division Luncheon and met some fantastic ladies. I was a guest of the Mansfield Family Health Center, but Dr. Amin and Liza (from the health center) knew that I wanted to make my way there for Classy Concepts.

The lunch was held at the Walnut Creek Country Club, but the best part of the meeting was they were dispersing the $21,000.00 they raised last year during the 2008 Style Show and the 2008 Tour of homes. All of the money they raise goes to other non-profit organizations in Mansfield or to scholarships for Mansfield Seniors.

I really enjoyed this group and joined today! I am very excited to continue to get to know these ladies and learn more about this community. We are looking for a new place to call "Home" for our second location for Classy Concepts Bridal Rentals and this may be a great fit for us. We want a community that is rich in envolvement, has great growth opportunity and wonderful people that we connect with.

A lot of the business we do is with people who have money and know how to spend it wisely or with people who are not as fortunate as others and still hope to attend prom or a wedding in a dress that makes them feel so special. In our economy today, we see so many people turning to the rental idea becuase they are realizing that spending thousands on a dress for one day may not be the best idea. When you see people cold, homeless and hungry- it really makes you think twice about spending so much for something that you may never wear again.

Sure, a wedding dress can have a really special memory and significance to a person- I completely respect that! (We do sell gowns every day and I completely know the value in that.) Its really neat to see brides and young women thinking long and hard about what worth is today and the memories and people are so valuable too.

The organizations The Mansfield Chamber Women's Division gave to are so worthy of the donations they made. I was so impressed with the various programs here for students, young people and for the community. Christie's Big Wedding Day!

Christie sent these pictures today and we wanted to acknowledge her special day!
She recently got married a few weeks ago and rented an amazing special order gown in a pick up style skirt from Raylia Designs. It was an Antique Gold fabric with lace mixed in with a textured taffeta fabric. The corset back was so beautiful and we are so happy for her!

She worked with Janet and sent her a note saying:

Zach and I did our engagement photos in downtown Austin one summer and they met us at 7am just so they could make sure our little faces weren't drenched with sweat from the hot Texas sun. Then, they scoped out the areas for me that I wanted to take pictures for my bridal portraits the day before my shoot so they could help me to know where to go before the day of. This made our photo shoot so quick and for someone like me who wants to savor the moment, but get back to work too...this was great! The thought was the most important thing. They put so much time and thought into every meeting and I truly felt as though I was the most important client to them even though I knew they were terribly busy.

Last but not least, we hired them to do our wedding day!
Wow, not only did they ask to come to our rehearsal so they could get to know the families and attendants prior to the wedding day (this again was important to them so our friends and family would feel comfortable to them)... we were so blown away by the little things they did that add up to be a LOT!

Zach and I looked into SEVERAL photographers (me being the cost effective shopper I am) and wanted the best photos in Austin for our wedding to be taken by someone who we felt a connection to, felt comfortable with, felt confident in their skills and talents, and of course felt all of this would happen within our price range.

We lucked out because they were more than we expected the day of and during our engagement. Each time we met for a shoot or meeting, they showed again and again that they really care about service and the business they lead.

I had the pleasure of doing the bustle and alterations on this beautiful wedding gown of Sarah's. It was so well made and beautifully crafted! What a gorgeous fabric too!

Sarah and all of her family and friends who came in with her were SO sweet and great to work with. I love customers as them because they are so fun to be around and make work seem like a nice conversation with a good friend.

We had over 50 of our new season and current season gowns in the show, but very few pictures turned out given the speed the models were strutting not matching up to the quickness of my camera! :)

This prom, we are seeing more and more parents and students coming in to consider the option of rental! People are realizing that even with the economy, there are so many other things they would like to spend the closet space on!

This was in a showroom at the Dallas Market Place as well as in a magazine I saw and have been dying to have a creative customer want to use this in thier home. :)

Well, since then, I have done this in 3 homes and I finally got a good picture to share. This is a friend of mine's home who lives in a darling home in Westlake of Austin, TX. Her home is perfect for this treatment becuase it has that charm and happens to have original wood floors and beautiful moldings, but more importantly- her color scheme is perfect for this look!
This is my personality becuase I like things with a little humor, creativity, and style.

I'm thinking about doing this in my new home, but we have plantation shutters so we shall see where I can put this! lol

The owner of a local bridal boutique is hoping to do her part to help area residents cope with tough economic times. Sue Gordon offers formal wear rentals at Classy Concepts Design, which carries the mantra, "Own your memories. Rent your dress." Gordon began Classy Concepts in 1998 in Oklahoma, but now operates out of a Joe DiMaggio Boulevard location. "With the economic times the way they are, a lot of brides are rethinking their options," Gordon said.

"Don't spend a fortune because it's just one day." Wedding costs can soar into the tens of thousands, with local wedding dresses averaging between $1,500 and $1,800 a pop, Gordon said. But at Classy Concepts, brides-to-be each have recently been spending about $199 for a gown and related expenses, she added.

Formal wear - which includes tuxedos - is rented for a week at a time and Classy Concepts presents each bride with a 6-inch by 6-inch piece of fabric with a three-letter monogram as a keepsake. The boutique offers its own fashion line, geared at affordability, but also carries designer gowns such as Mori Lee, Casablanca, Maggie Sattero, Da Vinci, Alfred Angelo and Raylia.

Models in the recent Babes in Toyland Market and Style Show, hosted by the Chaparral Women's Club, wore Classy Concepts formal wear. One model exhibited a Mori Lee gown geared for balls and teen celebrations, that can be rented for $69 and purchased for $189, even though it would normally sell for "a lot more," Gordon noted.

Gordon started up Classy Concepts as a design shop specializing in anything custom-made, she said. The business, however, evolved to offer "anything and everything" for formal occasions, including rentals, veils, accessories, tuxedos and more. The store also handles window coverings.

The current showroom is primarily geared toward women and children's wear. The business moved to Round Rock three years ago, but relocated to 3000 Joe DiMaggio Blvd., Suite 36 from another shopping center earlier this year. Gordon says she has plans to expand the business to the Dallas and south Austin markets next year.

"I think we're quickly growing," she said. "We're already outgrowing our space and looking to go into other markets."Besides weddings, Classy Concepts handles other special occasions, such as proms. Prom dresses can be rented for $29 to $99 and now is the time to get orders in, she noted. "The sooner the better."

Sharon and Haydn were married on September 27th, 2008 and they sent me the sweetest thank you card and note. It had a gorgeous picture of the bride and groom on it so of course I had to frame it and put it up on our walls so we can see it always.

They sent me a CD of thousands of great pictures!!! I included my top 3 of the wedding party.
There were so many good ones, but I decided to get one of the bride and groom, the bride with her maids and the groom with his trouble makers! :)

This couple was AWESOME and so was thier family and friends.
I think everyone rented which was awesome. The men all rented thier tuxedos and Sharon's mom got this amazing plum/purple gown here that I loved! And, her two bridesmaids each picked a seperate gown from the colors of the wedding. Everyone looked great on thier special day and the best part is they didn't spend a fortune and closet space to make it happen.

I wanted to let all of you know what our store hours will be this Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years so you can plan ahead. All of our brides and rental customers will be notified to make special arrangements for pick ups or returns, however, for all of you wanting to stop by... please make sure you make an appointment so we can better assist you!

Thanksgiving:
November 26th we will be open 10-3pm
November 27th (Thanksgiving Day) CLOSED

Babes in Toyland Fashion Show Sunday at Dell Diamond

Christina Underwood of Austin models an evening gown by Classy Concepts during the Babes in Toyland Style Show Sunday at Dell Diamond. The event was a fundraiser for charities supported by the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and the Chaparral Women’s Club.

My good friend Lisa Copeland was the Master of Ceremonies for the " Babes in Toyland" style show held at Dell Diamond. She lead an amazing group of women who as a team organized a fundraiser for charities supported by the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and the Chaparral Women's Club. Janet and I were able to work with each of the 16 models who came to our store for thier fittings and had a BLAST with all of them!

Many of the models came in during Halloween in costume which made it even more fun to get to know thier personalities. Our store is the only formal wear retailer in Central Texas that Rents Women's dresses and formals. Weddings are our specialty, but that is not all that we offer! As you can see from the picture above, we offer amazing prom and formal gowns for special occasions and semi-formals.

We had a blast at the fashion show this Sunday night and were excited to see this picture above on the front cover of today's paper. Thank you to all the women of the Round Rock Chapparal's! You ladies rock and we hope to see you at the next fundraiser! What a great cause you support!

Janet, our assistant manager, is working with all of the models for our upcoming fashion show that we are sponsoring with the Round Rock Chapparals. The proceeds from the fashion show go to benefit the Round Rock YMCA. The theme for the show is "Babes in Toyland".

This blog entry is probably the highlight of my week!
We got the sweetest note and pictures today from one of our beloved brides and I am so thankful each time a customer gives us pictures.

You send them off with these gorgeous threads and hope they come back to show you how truly amazing they really are!

Jacklyn rented her wedding dress from us as well as lots of other things for her wedding. She even has a picture here of her bridal tank that she purchased in our showroom. I love the pictures these tanks make for the wedding day. You definitely know who the bride was!

The wedding was held in Round Rock at Casa Blanca. I really enjoyed working with Jacklyn's wedding coordinator, Deidre Brown. Deidre is owner and operator of Detailed Weddings by Deidre and she is certainly on point and super friendly. She does such a great job for her clients and goes the extra mile!

Jacklyn, when you read this, girl... I must say. I can be honest here becuase we worked together for many months (Jacklyn was one of those smart brides who got her wedding dress rental under contract Months in advance rather than waiting till the last minute!). She had time to do all of her fittings without stress and it was so nice to get to know her. However, I digress. :)

What I wanted to say... was: YOU LOOK LIKE A friggen movie star in your wedding photos!!! You are absolutely stunning... I have never seen a dress fit someone so perfectly- right down to your personality and grace. This gown is corset back so that always helps, but DANG GIRL! When we do our next brochure... you will be on the cover! You look amazing. :)

Meredith sent these great pictures this week from her wedding and they were too good not to share! She looked beautiful in our wedding dress rental. This dress that she rented from our store fit her like a glove and the best part was the rental only cost her $199.00.

The veil is unique becuase of the crystal edge beading which really adds to the detail of the veil. She rented her veil as well!
It was great working with Meredith and her mom. I can see that it was a lovely wedding at Texas Old Town in Kyle.

Zach and I attended a weekend conference Friday and Saturday. With the topics that we went over during the 2 days we were there, we both are reminded more and more how fortunate we are to have great a great upbringing and continued support from those that love us. Today, Sunday, I went to a VERY close friends wedding. The ceremony was at Chapel Docelnia in Driftwood, Texas.

After a weekend as this, the vows they repeated had new a strengthened meaning to me as I heard something new today in thier marriage ceremony. I have been to countless wedding ceremonies, but today I listened with an enhanced point of view.

No family is seamless. No family is free from issues that you wish you could have done without, but it would not be a family if there were not more than one individual that came together. Sometimes when those individuals come together they clash. Everyone is unique- this can be a nice thing but can also be a challenge. In the end, we would all be individuals without the group we call family.

So, I want to give a BIG thanks to my family and Zach's family. We are both so fortunate to have parents who have stayed by each other through thick and thin. We see these examples of long standing marriage through our parents (though we understand they both went through their own personal hardships- what marriage doesn't?) and it makes us really appreciate something so simple that we could easily have taken for granted.

Here is to Zach's and my parents who have both celebrated over 30 years of marriage and my grandparents who have been married for over 60 years! Cheers to you and the role model you are to us all.

Look at these colors! Growing up, I have always loved lavender. I always dreamed of having lavender in everything when I grew up. I never got too far into pink and that is probably because I grew up with 2 brothers and had to get wrestled every week while continuing to maintain my girliness!

Lavender is the right amount of femininity and grace. I love how this homeowner chose to mix lavender with the key lime green. Both colors are very soft and we added a nice touch of softness to the main focus wall of the room for the upcoming arrival of Baby Goldman! Here are some pictures of what we did before Pottery Barn Kids showed up with the furniture selections. The crisp white swags add an innocence and freshness with the light green polka dots.

There were some privacy and light control issues we were trying to solve as well as utilize some pre-purchased hardware. So, with everything we were hoping to accomplish- the homeowner was very pleased with how everything met their needs!

I screached like a little school girl when our dresses came in from our Classy Concepts Design line of bridesmaid dresses! They are SO beautiful. We are entering them into the bridesmaid Rental inventory right now as well as tagging them all but let me tell you that they are almost all available instock for immediate rental- no more waiting 10 years for a dress to arrive from an order. :) And, we have over 30 colors and fabrics to choose from- the selection is incredible as well!

Driskill Hotel: Victorian Room and Citadel Opening

Last week I attended the historic Driskill Hotel opening of their two event rooms: The Victorian and the Citadel. These rooms are the yin and yang of decor. The Citadel is very urban lounge in style. It features red textured fabrics, velvet black and white accents throughout. I love that there is an upper balcony as well for guest to eat, talk or enjoy the scenery from above. This room is on the main level of the hotel and is adjacent to the hotel cafe and bakery. You can see the picture I took from the upper balcony. I really loved their presentation of food and beverage. They turned the simple... into sassy.

Past The upstairs Mezanine of the hotel is the Victorian Room. It is very sweet and inocent, but has a high level of class. Does this sound like a bride you know? It is surprisingly one of thier lowest price point room rates even though it does not miss a single detail with its elegant golds, ivorys and light shades of romance. :) It was so hard to decide which room I liked more because they were literally so different from one another that they could easily be your favorite. Given that it was such a great night, I got to see lots of new and familiar faces from the wedding industry. It was great to see everyone and meet a few new people in the business that I have been wanting to put a face to a name!

Wedding Vows

Wedding VOWS:

'Tis the wedding season and we are not kidding. The conversation of weddings, wedding planning, invitation lists, where and how much is unending during this "season" AND always interesting. One way to make your wedding personalized to you is the wedding vows. After all, it is all about the commitment and the vows you are making to each other.

Make sure you and your betrothed are on the same page with personalizing your vows. If you go that route, here are a few tips to help you get started.

Incorporating Tradition:
Ask your officiant for a look at the vows that would ordinarily be used at your particular church, synagogue or other ceremonial venue. You can use them as a jumping-off point for your own words of love and commitment. A civil ceremony will give you and your fiance the freedom to write your own vows. Be sure to ask the officiant, if you will need to include any particular words or terms to make your "I dos" valid in the eyes of your faith or the law.

Celebrate Your History Together:
A look at the past can get you thinking about what you want to promise each other for the future. How did you first meet? What are some milestones of the relationship? When was the first time you exchanged "I love yous"? What are a few of the experiences you've shared? What is your favorite memory?

The Commitment:
What do you both consider to be the most meaningful aspect of marriage? What do you want to do with your future together? What do you especially value about one another? What will change when you are married? What is the single greatest thing about the person you are going to marry? Now, it should start becoming clearer what you want to promise each other at the altar.

From the Heart:
You might want to begin by writing your vows in the form of a letter that only your fiance will see. In your private letter, you're free to pour your heart out. Then go back and pick out the parts you want to share with the crowd.

Coordinating the Vows:
Some couples choose to keep them a secret from each other, until the big day. If you do decide to surprise each other, just be sure you don't end up promising different things. Simply compose at least one line with your fiance that includes the important promises you want to make and then weave them into whatever else you plan to say.

Try filling in the blanks of this simpler vow:
(Name of your sweetheart), you are my (best friend, one true love, the one I want to spend the rest of my life with). Today, I take you to be my (wife, husband, lawfully wedded wife or husband, life partner). I promise you that I will be (faithful, worthy of your trust, worthy of your love, your loving partner). I vow to (honor you, cherish you, love you, respect you, laugh with you, cry with you, support you in your goals), (insert here the length of your vow, for example: for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as we both shall live.)

And there's always the do-it-yourself road - Write your own poems or read an excerpt from the love letters and cards you've exchanged. You can also refer to the classics, such as Shakespeare or other favorite novelists and poets. Practice saying your vows before the ceremony and also keep a note card with you in case of stage fright. Whichever road you choose, it is important to speak from the heart.

You just don't see too many dresses with this neckline so you have to enjoy them while you can!
